Project Description

A redevelopment of the former ‘Labour Exchange’ site transforming into a 298 bedroom 4-star Holiday Inn hotel in a prominent location, less than 400 metres from Manchester Piccadilly Station.

Works included demolition of the existing site and construction of an 8-storey hotel including a bar and restaurant, gym, ten meeting rooms, and extensive conference and banqueting facilities.

The Site

The city-centre site was surrounded by Rochdale Canal, Metro Tram lines, an abutting apartment block and a narrow cul-de-sac which serviced the adjacent Malmaison Hotel.

“The building creates a new and strong connection to the Rochdale canal from a road level entrance, with new open terraces, which in turn encourage pedestrian footfall to reconnect the building and street to its surroundings.”
