Overview
In partnership with Commerz Real AG, MRP completed the development and construction of the latest high-profile regeneration project on Blackfriars Road.
In 2008 McAleer & Rushe Group acquired a derelict office block near Southwark tube station and secured planning permission for a high density, two hotel scheme on the site.
London’s Southbank has become a major hot-spot for hotels and so there was strong interest from all the main branded hotel groups. Recognising the synergies of a two hotel building, ACCOR Europe’s largest hotel group committed to take a lease on both hotels and they are operated through the Novotel and Ibis brands.
The Novotel is a 182 bed 4-star hotel packed with the latest hotel technology including self check-in check-out, an iPad dining table in the full service bar and restaurant and a swimming pool with digital art. The Ibis is a 297 bed 2-star hotel with bar and restaurant. Access to Novotel London Blackfriars is located at the north-east corner of the site and entry to Ibis London Blackfriars is located at the south-east corner of the development.
Located 100 metres from Southwark tube station, the twin hotel development has been constructed for the Accor Hotel Group. The development is conveniently situated close to the South Bank of the River Thames, and is in close proximity to both the Tate Modern and the Globe Theatre.
