McAleer & Rushe and DM Thomas Foundation for Young People raise money for NICH
27 March 2015, Belfast: Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice received £44,900 of funding for much needed refurbishments to their children’s accommodation facilities.
The money was raised through the Foundation Ball held annually at London Hilton on Park Lane and the Hospice was chosen as one of the recipient of funds from the night by ball sponsor McAleer & Rushe. The Ball was held in November 2014 and raised substantial amounts of money for both Hilton in the Community Foundation (HCF) and the charities that they support, including the Hospice. The money will be used by Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice for much needed refurbishment works to their facilities.
Dame Maureen Thomas, founding trustee of HCF, Simon Sheehan the Director of the charity, Seamus McAleer, Chairman of McAleer & Rushe alongside Company Directors Martin Magee and Stephen Surphlis, Mark Walker the General Manager of Hilton Belfast and Steve Cassidy Vice President of Ops Select UK from Hilton Worldwide met with the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospiceto present them with a cheque.
Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is the only service of its type within Northern Ireland caring for children and young people with very complex needs. There are over 1,300 life-limited children and young people and their families living in Northern Ireland who need specialist care. The hospice will refurbish four of their children’s bedrooms with new flooring, furniture, lighting, sinks and windows.
Eamonn Laverty, Chief Executive of McAleer & Rushe said:
“McAleer & Rushe are proud to support the Foundation as well as the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, who both work hard to support vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. The hospice is a charity that is close to the heart of McAleer & Rushe as we are a Northern Ireland based company and believe in giving back to the community.”
