Clayton Hotel, Dublin
Project Description
This unique project included the restoration of three 18th century Georgian buildings and the new build construction of an extension which has been carefully designed to marry modern architecture with historic Dublin. The 4-star 189-bedroom Clayton hotel spans across 5-storeys and includes a fine dining restaurant with views over the Grand Canal, state-of-the-art function rooms, conference facilities and a fitness suite.
The design combines contemporary architecture with superior craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail. The elevations are finished in a combination of handmade brick, floor-to-ceiling glazing and vertical fins to the rear of the property that maintain privacy for the nearby residential buildings.
The Site
The site is located in Dublin 2 on the corner of Charlemont Mall and Charlemont Street on the banks of Dublin’s iconic Grand Canal. It forms part of a vista which terminates at the canal and with the sensitive design of this prominent building, it breathes new life into the historic building of Charlemont Street and the surrounding area.
