Project Description

Construction of a new build 240-bedroom Hampton by Hilton hotel on the site of the former immigration police station Saltire House and adjoining carpark, located within 5 minutes walking distance from the Edinburgh Airport terminal.

The building spans 6 storeys with all hotel services at ground floor level including bar & restaurant, meeting and conference space and hotel gym. Bedrooms above ground on levels 1 to 5. The contract works also included the construction of an adjoining 75 space car park beside the hotel.

We successfully accelerated delivery of the project to handover to the client 2 months ahead of programme thus allowing the hotel to take advantage of the peak Christmas period.

Design Story

The project began as a 175-bed hotel however a further planning application was submitted during construction for an increased 240-bed hotel and successfully approved.

The building structure is an in-situ concrete frame on piled foundations and the façade constructed from Kingspan Quadcore Karrier panels, dressed in Alucobond Cladding with infill curtain walling panels.

“Conveniently located within walking distance of the main terminal. You’ll find the best shopping, restaurants, as well as the city’s cultural and historical attractions including Edinburgh Castle, Murrayfield Stadium and Edinburgh Zoo, just 20 minutes via bus or tram.”
