Project Description
The new hotel development is located within an existing pedestrian boulevard adjacent to Wembley Stadium, in North West London and is part of the greater Wembley Park Development Masterplan. The project was split over 2no. phases:
Phase 1 – Enabling Works – phased removal of existing boulevard and installation of all Drainage and Utilities.
Phase 2 – Hotel Construction – The construction of a 312-bedroom Premier Inn hotel, consisting of a piled substructure and 13-storey RC frame with rainscreen cladding, curtain walling and aluminium windows.
Sustainability / Innovation & Community Engagement
Low impact rainwater discharge system – blue roof water attenuation system used to minimise impact on surrounding drainage infrastructure.
Blue roof for sustainable drainage was installed. The blue roof attenuates water and releases the water slowly into the local sewage system, relieving pressure from the system during storm conditions. The roof was also biodiverse to create a high-level ecological habitat. An extensive range of community engagement initiatives implemented to include site tours, DIY workshops for the public and community days.
