Project Description
The construction of a large-scale mixed-use regeneration scheme constructed over two blocks, delivering approximately 836 Purpose-Built Student Accommodation rooms (472 studios and 364 cluster flats), alongside approximately 26,000sqft of commercial space.
The scheme will offer high-quality student living, featuring a range of premium amenities such as dedicated study areas, social lounges, a fully equipped gym, and an on-site cinema, all designed to support a vibrant and balanced student lifestyle.
The development will include a community medical centre, 31 parking spaces, and enhancements to the surrounding public realm.
The Site
Located on the site of a former Sainsbury’s at 1 Chapel Lane, this project will transform a long-vacant brownfield plot—unused for over five years—into a vibrant new destination in Selly Oak.
By opening up the space through the removal of obstructive retaining walls and reinstating the Bristol Road high street frontage, the development will breathe new life into this derelict island site. In addition to delivering modern student accommodation, it will also provide vital community healthcare services, creating a welcoming and accessible hub for the local area.
