CEF has launched #SafetyReboot2026, a month-long health and safety initiative taking place throughout January 2026. The initiative encourages construction companies to pause work for approximately fifteen minutes once a week during January, providing dedicated time to refocus on key health and safety priorities.

McAleer & Rushe has supported the initiative since its inception in 2021, with all projects across the UK and Ireland taking part again this year. The business will also continue to actively encourage participation from sub-contractors and supply chain partners, reinforcing a shared commitment to health and safety across all projects.

The CEF Health & Safety Committee, chaired by McAleer & Rushe’s Director of SHEQ, Declan McLogan, has introduced focused weekly themes to ensure maximum impact during January. Week 1 will focus on Site Re-induction, Week 2 on Working at Height, Week 3 on Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Week 4 gives companies the opportunity to choose a topic most relevant to their own business needs. 11 core topics remain available as part of the initiative.

The resources should be used to start conversation and interaction between the workforce on issues encountered every day on site. Companies are encouraged to get involved and use these short stoppages as a time for staff and sub-contractors to really engage with each other on the important topics, share experiences and reinforce safe working practices.

Jonathan Caughey, Federation Manager at the CEF, commented:

“We are really excited that the industry will be again joining us by getting involved in #SafetyReboot2026. Health and safety is such an important part of every day on construction sites across Northern Ireland. Safety Reboot gives the industry the opportunity to demonstrate its commitment by reminding staff and the wider supply chain of the key messages to keep themselves and their colleagues safe and healthy.”

Resources, including question packs and discussion aids on each topic, can be found on the CEF website: #SafetyReboot2026 Resources CEF
