Leading design & build contractor McAleer & Rushe have partnered with the University of Westminster to launch their new Construction Site Supervisor & Management Apprenticeship Programme, ahead of the 2025/26 intake year.

Offering a structured pathway for aspiring construction professionals, successful candidates will join the company as an Apprentice Construction Site Supervisor, while studying part-time towards a fully funded BSc Honours degree in Construction Management at the University of Westminster, London.

Apprentices will initially undertake a two-year Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) course in Construction Management, and upon successful completion, they will progress to a three-year Level 6 undergraduate degree in Construction Management.

Launched in May 2025, the programme marks McAleer & Rushe’s third apprenticeship offering, reflecting the company’s continued commitment to creating structured and accessible routes into the construction industry. The initiative is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive foundation, combining academic learning with invaluable, on-the-job experience.

Apprentices will become integrated members of McAleer & Rushe’s Site Management teams, working under the guidance of experienced mentors on major live construction projects.

Kai Zs, Business Development Manager, Apprenticeships at University of Westminster said:

“McAleer & Rushe’s ongoing support and investment in developing future professionals has been invaluable in bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application. This partnership not only empowers our apprentices but also contributes to building a skilled and dynamic workforce. Through our shared commitment to nurturing talent, the aim is to provide meaningful apprenticeship opportunities that equip apprentices with real-world experience and industry insight. We look forward to continuing this rewarding collaboration.”

This degree apprenticeship provides a comprehensive and professionally-oriented study of the management and organisation of sustainable construction production over the building project life cycle, from the concepts of building design and building science to construction technology, site surveying and data analysis

Kevin Hughes, Training & Development Manager at McAleer & Rushe said;

“We are proud to strengthen our commitment to nurturing emerging talent through this new apprenticeship scheme in collaboration with the University of Westminster. At McAleer & Rushe, we recognise the value of combining academic learning with real-world experience, and this programme provides a clear pathway for aspiring site managers to develop their skills while contributing meaningfully to our projects.
