McAleer & Rushe has been honoured with two accolades at the 2025 Business Eye Sustainability & ESG Awards, held on Thursday 15th May. The awards celebrate organisations that are leading the way in sustainable business practices and demonstrating innovation in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance.

The leading Design & Build contractor was recognised in the following categories:

  • ESG Award (Medium-Large): Highly Commended
  • Sustainable Company of the Year 2025 (Large-Medium): Highly Commended

These acknowledgements underscore McAleer & Rushe’s commitment to integrating ESG principles throughout its business. The company has made substantial strides in driving positive environmental and social outcomes, while embedding robust governance practices across its operations.

As part of its sustainability journey, McAleer & Rushe has committed to achieving Net Zero by 2045, implementing a range of transformative measures to reduce its environmental impact. These efforts include a 30% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2019, achieving significant reductions in Construction waste generated through a new waste reduction strategy, 99% waste diversion from landfill, and exceeding Biodiversity Net Gain targets.

Dedicated to leaving a lasting positive impact, McAleer & Rushe in 2024 delivered; engagement with over 2,000 young people, facilitation of more than 250 work placements and apprenticeships, and implemented enhanced EDI policies, training, and recognition.

The company has also been awarded the Bronze Diversity Mark, reflecting its leadership in equality, diversity, and inclusion, and continues to strengthen initiatives such as modern slavery awareness and responsible employment practices.
