Leading UK design and build construction company McAleer & Rushe has been appointed as the contractor in a major £23m hotel project on Chapel Street in Manchester city centre to be delivered under the Maldron brand of Ireland’s largest hotel operator, Dalata Hotel Group.

The announcement follows conclusion of the forward funding deal between client RJR Securities and CBRE Investment Management, with construction set to commence next month. Currently used as a surface car park, the new 17-storey hotel will comprise of 188-bedrooms, a bar and restaurant, coffee lounge and gym facilities, with landscaping and public realm works forming part of the project.

The new four-star hotel will be located in the prominent Chapel Street area of Salford which has strong infrastructure and connectivity in place and continues the significant regeneration of the wider Deansgate area.

Designed by NORR and Urban Innovations on board as delivery architects, the building is targeted to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating and expected to complete in 2024.

When at peak operation, the project will have 200 workers onsite and provide local employment opportunities.

McAleer & Rushe are also nearing the completion of another Maldron hotel project in Manchester at Charles Street, delivering 278-bedrooms.
